Troubleshooting FAQ

Routing issues with Cloudflare DNS

Airwall Teams uses an internal 1.0.0.0/8 network which causes DNS queries to Cloudflare DNS at 1.1.1.1 to fail.

To resolve: Add a static route to 1.1.1.1 via your default gateway.

e.g. “sudo IP route add 1.1.1.1/32 via 192.168.0.1”

What ports do I need open on my home firewall?

Most home and small office firewalls are already compatible with Airwall Teams. These firewalls typically use outbound NAT by default, so they allow outbound traffic on the ports used by Airwall Teams (UDP 10500 and TCP 8096).

If your firewall restricts access to these ports, you need to update your firewall settings before you can use Airwall Teams.

Do I need to allow inbound connections for Airwall Teams to work?

No, Airwall Teams uses relays so there are no inbound port requirements.

The Linux Airwall Server will not install on my device.

Please make sure you are trying to install on one of the supported versions of Linux. See Operating system requirements for Airwall Agents and Servers.

What does the check mark in the Online column mean?

The check box indicates that the Airwall Agent has connection to Airwall Teams.

What does a green check mark in the Online column mean?

The check mark turns green when the Airwall Agent has an active connection (HIP tunnel) established.

How do I check that I am connected?

Check that you have a green check box in the "Online" column of your Airwall Agent dashboard.

I've added a device, but it does not show as online in the dashboard.

If the Airwall Agent on the device shows it is connected to the Conductor, try refreshing your browser.

I don't see any icons in the dashboard, only small squares.

This is an issue specifically with the Safari browser. Force a refresh of your icon cache (CMD + OPTION + R) and the page should display correctly.

Why is my device constantly trying to connect?

If you delete a device from Airwall Teams, the device is not notified and will continue to try to connect. Contact the owner of the Airwall Teams network and ask them to send another invitation.

Samsung phones – I’m having trouble signing up with my Samsung phone.

There is an issue with signing up for Airwall Teams from certain Samsung phones where you may have to log in to Airwall Teams twice. Samsung makes the Samsung browser the default. When you logged in to Airwall Teams the first time from your email it was using Chrome, and the second one to activate followed the default to the Samsung browser instead.

How do I get technical support?

The Technical Support team is available by email. If you have an issue with Airwall Teams, send an email to ZeroTrustP2PSupport@tempered.io and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
