Release Notes 1.12.3

Release Date: November 2, 2016

Important: A Conductor running 1.11.3 must be upgraded using a different package than used to update 1.12.1. Please follow the instructions carefully on the download page to acquire the correct installer package.
Note: A HIPswitch running 1.11 can only be updated to 1.12 with a Conductor running 1.12. Update your Conductor before updating your HIPswitches from 1.11.

Enhancements

ID Component Description
DEV-2292 HIP Services In 1.12.3 HIP session keys renew every eight hours instead of every four minutes in previous releases. This enhancement to HIP Services optimizes performance while still maintaining key integrity.
DEV-3030 HIP Services In Diagnostic Mode, the Advanced configuration page has been streamlined to remove settings that should not be changed.
DEV-3649 HIP Services

You can now set the UDP port used by HIPswitches to send and receive HIP messages.

To set the port in the Conductor UI:
  1. Select Settings and then click Edit Settings in the Advanced section
  2. In the Advanced dialog, enter your desired port in the Host Identity Protocol Port field
  3. Click Save
Note: This is a global change and applies to all HIP Services connected to the Conductor.
DEV-3949 Conductor UI When a HIPswitch is in Diagnostic Mode, you can view installed hotfixes from the Diagnostic page. If the same hotfix was installed multiple times, it will only display once in the list. You can view all hotfixes installed, including duplicates, by generating a diagnostic report from the Conductor UI.
DEV-4070, DEV-4083 Conductor, HIPswitch (Cellular) Health data reporting for all cellular HIPswitches now report additional details and enhanced diagnostics, which are useful for deploying, monitoring, or troubleshooting cellular connectivity.
Note: A 1.12.3 or newer HIPswitch will report signal strength in a way that will not graph properly on 1.12.2 or older versions of the Conductor. You can view the signal strength values on the Reporting -> Health Data page. Upgrading your Conductor to 1.12.3 will resolve this issue.

Fixes

ID Component Resolution
DEV-3607 HIP Services The Memory free value in the Graphs and Health data sections of the HIPswitch Reporting tab now report more accurate information.
DEV-3624 HIPswitch 200 Customers can now see the Gateworks Serial Number and Gateworks System Controller Revision in the diagnostic report for ISA-cns3xxx HIPswitches.
DEV-3933 HIPapp Fixed an issue where a HIPserver had an IP address of 0.0.0.0 when initially connecting to the Conductor.
DEV-3939 HIPapp
Fixed an issue where upgrading a HIPapp or HIPserver would require reprovisioning.
Note: this issue is fixed for 1.12.2 and above. A HIPapp running 1.12.1 still requires reprovisioning if upgraded to 12.2.2 or above.
DEV-3956 Conductor Fixed an issue where the Replace function did not work correctly for a HIPswitch in AWS.
DEV-4001 HIPswitch Fixed an issue that caused HA-configured HIPswitches to stop working when setting the auto-connect option.
DEV-4002 HIPswitch Fixed an issue with Verizon cellular HIPswitches where the port number was initially unavailable and incoming packets were being rejected.
DEV-4003 Conductor Fixed an issue where the Role drop-down was available after setting up an HA-paired Conductor. The drop-down is now disabled if the Conductor is HA-paired and you must select Promote to master or Demote to standby if you want to change roles. You can do this from the Conductor High Availability section of the Settings page in the Conductor UI.
DEV-4006 HIPswitch Fixed an issue where a HIPswitch would reject a certificate from the provisioning server due to a time difference between the HIPswitch and the server.
DEV-4010 HIPswitch AWS Fixed an issue where network interfaces were returned from the AWS metadata server out of order.
DEV-4020 Conductor UI Fixed an issue where the HIPserver icon on the Devices page and the Show Authentication Token icon on the People page did not display correctly in the Safari web browser.
DEV-4048 Conductor Fixed an issue where Serial over IP could stop working on a HIPswitch after rebooting the Conductor.
DEV-4077 API Fixed an issue when making a PATCH call to /api/v1/overlay_networks/{id} where you were unable to update the enable state of the network.
DEV-4078 HIPswitch Fixed a bug on the HIPswitch 200 Series platform that caused traffic throughput to degrade over time, requiring a reboot.
DEV-4086, DEV-4087 OpenSSL All products were updated with the latest OpenSSL Security Advisory fixes:
DEV-4094 Conductor UI Fixed an issue where the Capture interface field on the Packet capture options dialog displayed a valid interface although an interface had not been selected. This resulted in an Invalid capture interface error. The field now defaults to HIP tunnel and the capture runs without error.
DEV-4107 Conductor UI Fixed an issue where editing HIPswitch firewall settings did not work correctly in the Conductor UI. This fix merges hotfix HF-4107 into 1.12.3.
DEV-4150 HIPswitch Fixed issue that in rare cases causes a HIPswitch in transparent mode to block all traffic and disconnect from Conductor if the firewall is restarted.
DEV-4179 Conductor, HIPswitch Fixed an issue where disabling web access on an interface may cause a licensing error for any HIPswitch connecting to the interface.

Known Issues

ID Component Description
DEV-1994 HIPswitch When modifying an existing Serial over IP configuration, you must reboot the HIPswitch to apply the new configuration settings.
DEV-2022 Conductor After configuration setup completes on two HIPswitch Conductors in a High Availability pair, the Conductor user interface may not return to the Dashboard. Refresh your browser to return to the Dashboard.
DEV-2224 HIP Services

Prior to configuring a HIPswitch HA-pair, the secondary HIPswitch may auto-discover the primary HIPswitch's gateway IP as a device.

Workaround: Once the HA pair is configured, navigate to the secondary HIPswitch, go to the Devices tab, and delete the erroneous device with the primary HIPswitch’s gateway IP.
DEV-2417 Conductor UI The password reset email link defaults to the first web enabled interface, and will be successful only if an administrator configures the first interface with a publicly-facing default route.
DEV-3314 HIPswitch 100-series HIPswitches do not support VLAN-tagged traffic.
Warning: Although the Conductor UI currently allows you to set a VLAN tag on a 100-series HIPswitch, doing so will interfere with the HIPswitch's functionality. This issue will be fixed in a future release.
DEV-3342 Conductor When configuring a HIPswitch, the firewall settings page may become unresponsive.

Workaround: Refresh the browser and try the operation again.

DEV-3386 HIPswitch 101e Do not put one-armed HIPswitches into transparent mode. ARP storms will result.
DEV-3466 HIPapp The HIPapp tray will not function unless .NET 4.5.2 is installed.
DEV-3840 HIPapp, HIPserver When uninstalling an unlicensed HIPapp or HIPserver, the uninstall program leaves the folder Program Files (x86)\TemperedNetworks and the two log files, firmware_install_record and hip.log. These are safe to delete after uninstall.
DEV-4028 API When making a POST call to /api/v1/people, the role attribute is set to viewer regardless of the role specified.
DEV-4170 Conductor UI The Shared throughput and Overlay throughput graphs in the Graphs section of the Reporting tab may show a drop in traffic after a HIPswitch is rebooted until the next collection interval occurs.
DEV-4188 HIPswitch (Cellular) In the Graphs section of the Reporting tab, several graphs are available to a HIPswitch 200g with an Option Cellular card that are not applicable to the model, such as LTE, CDMA, Cell temperature, etc. These graphs will not display data.
DEV-4189 Conductor UI A device may not report state correctly in the Devices section for an overlay if the device is behind a virtual HIPswitch.
DEV-4219 Conductor UI In the Graphs section of the Reporting tab, the CPU graph reports average system load over the past 5 minutes. This can display a value greater than 100% which indicates that the system is busy and the amount above 100% indicates an overload in terms of average number of processes waiting for the CPU.
DEV-4235 HIPswitch

Downgrading a HIPswitch 100g from 1.12.x to 1.11.x will result in the loss of the cellular APN.

Workaround: To resolve the issue you must place the HIPswitch 100g in diagnostic mode to reset the APN.

DEV-4244 HIPswitch

When upgrading a HIPswitch 300v HA pair to 1.12.3, the HIP process may become unresponsive on the first boot after the upgrade.

Workaround: Reboot the HA pair to resolve the issue.
