Revoke and Reactivate a HIPswitch

If a HIPswitch is lost, stolen or damaged, you are able to revoke the HIPswitch provided that you are a manager of all overlay networks to which the HIPswitch belongs. Once revoked, the HIPswitch will not be able to establish communications to any other HIPswitches and other HIPswitches will not be able to communicate with this HIPswitch.

To revoke a HIPswitch, go to HIPswitches, select the HIPswitch you want to revoke, and from the Actions menu, select Revoke and click Apply. The HIPswitch will be revoked and "revoked" will be appended to the name of HIPswitch. By default, revoked HIPswitches are not displayed in the Conductor, but you can display them in the HIPswitches tab by checking the Display Revoked HIPswitches box.

To reactivate a revoked HIPswitch

  1. Navigate to the dashboard or the HIPservices tab
  2. Select the arrow to the to the right of the HIPservice you want to revoke
  3. Click Revoke and in the confirmation dialog, click Apply
The HIPswitch will be revoked and "(revoked)" will be appended to its name. By default, revoked HIPswitch's are not displayed in the Conductor, but you can display them on the dashboard or the HIP Services page by checking Display Revoked HIPswitches at the bottom of the HIPservices list.
To re-activate a previously revoked HIPservice and allow the HIPservice to participate in overlay networks and communicate with other HIPservice, follow the same procedure above to revoke and instead select Re-activate.
Note: Only System Administrators have permission to re-activate revoked HIPservices.
