Install HIPclient on Microsoft Windows

The HIPclient is installed using the Windows installer. Once installed, you can configure the HIPclient with the hostname of your Conductor. You must be an administrator of the Windows machine to install and configure the HIPclient.

Note: You can start and stop the HIPclient service as needed. Keep in mind when a HIPclient service is stopped, the Windows machine can no longer communicate within any overlay it belongs to even if communication policies are enabled.

Installation

The HIPclient uses the Windows Installer package, which you can obtain from the Downloads section of our Support site https://support.temperednetworks.com. Run the installer as an administrator and follow the prompts.
Note: You may be asked to install the TAP-Windows Provider as part of the installation procedure. Click Install, if prompted.

Configuration

Once the installation is complete, the application will start automatically.

To configure the HIPclient:
  1. Right-click the Tempered Networks icon in the Windows System Tray
  2. Click Configure
  3. In the Configure window, do the following:
    1. Enter the IP address or host name of your Conductor. The default port setting is 8096.
    2. Select the appropriate adapter from the Network drop-down
Note: The Device IP and Device Mask fields are read-only and configurable from the Conductor.
    3. Click OK

Once the HIPclient is recognized by the Conductor, you can configure additional options.

Note: You may need to stop and restart the HIPclient to allow it to connect to the Conductor. Right-click the Tempered Networks icon in the Windows System Tray and select Stop to suspend the service or Start to resume.
