Create a Smart Device Group

To create a Smart Device Group:

  1. Select Devices in the Conductor.
  2. Select the Device groups tab and click Create Group...
  3. Add a device group Name and optionally a Description
  4. In the Advanced Properties section, check Use rules to add devices
Note: Once selected, a new Rules tab is added to the create group dialog.
    • If you want to add devices after they are created and accepted, check Ignore auto-discovered devices until accepted. If left unchecked, devices matching the DGR will be added when discovered.
    • If you want the SDG recomputed automatically when the rules have changed, check Automatically recompute after rules change. If left unchecked, You will need to recompute the rule manually by navigating to DevicesDevice groups, clicking the drop-down to the right of your device group, and selecting Recompute group.
  5. Select the user role allowed to edit the Smart Device Group from the Rule editor drop-down
Note: The Local Administrator role is selected by default.

You can now select the Rules tab and begin adding Device Matching Rules or click Save if you want to create the group add rules later.

Note: Once a device group is changed to a Smart Device Group, you can no longer manually add devices to the group. You can use the Devices tab to view a list of devices added by the DMRs, but you cannot edit the list.
