Device Matching Rules (DMR)
A Device Group Rule (DGR) contains one or more Device Matching Rules (DMR). Each DMR adds or removes devices from the group, based on a set of criteria you define.
Each DMR requires the following:
- Order
- An ordinal value that indicates the order in which the DMR is interpreted. It is important to understand that you may receive different results based on how you arrange your DMRs.
- Operator
- An operator that determines the logic by which devices are added as members of the group. See Rule operators for a list of operators.
- Negate (!)
- The negate option reverses the result of the operator. The Smart Device Group example contains a DMR using the negate option as an example.
- Rule Types and Arguments
- A drop-down list that contains the different kinds of information you can use to determine what devices are added to a Smart Device Group. The rule type you select determines the criteria, or arguments, that are available for implementing a rule. See Rule types for a list of rule types.
