Rule ordering
Device Matching Rules (DMR) are interpreted in order. It is important to understand that you may receive different results based on how you construct them.
This example illustrates how changing the order of DMRs can change which devices are added to
the group.
The first DMR adds all devices in Campus - West, the second DMR adds
any remaining devices not behind Campus - East, and the third DMR
excludes all devices in the Instructor Devices group. This
results in the following group membership:
If you reversed the second and third rule:
The Instructor Desktop - 2nd Floor is removed by the second DMR, but added back into
the group by the third DMR, resulting in the following group membership.
So, remember that DMR operations are processed in order, so enter the DMRs in an order that produces the intended result.
